| Binghamton Mets Home Run Team |
Since the opening game in 1992, the Binghamton Mets Home Run Team has continued to support United Way annual fundraising efforts. Since its beginning, the program has contributed more than $44,000 to support services for the community.
Three
organizations signed on as members of the 2008 Home Run Team: BAE
Systems, Columbian
Financial Group, and Universal
Instruments. Each pledged to donate $25 to the United Way for every home run hit by a Binghamton
Mets player during home games, to a maximum of 45 home runs.
As a part of Home Run Team activities, a Mets player is named "Player of the Month", and is publicly recognized with an award presentation in a short, pre-game ceremony at a home game. A representative from one of the sponsoring organizations makes the presentation.
