Established in 1983 as First Call for Help, this is a centralized information source for community resources. The service is designed to answer questions and to offer guidance to area residents in helping them through the human service maze. In 2011 it became the local link for the nationwide 2-1-1 system.

2-1-1 / First Call for Help assists telephone callers with identifying services to meet their needs. The professional staff use a computerized database of information, national directories, and other resources. Printed materials are also available.  

• 2-1-1 / First Call for Help offers information on services available in Broome and Tioga Counties and surrounding area.
• It is available to anyone with a question or a problem of their own … or for a relative, neighbor, or a friend.
• It provides trained professionals to answer each call.
• It is free and confidential.
• It assists professionals in locating appropriate services for their clients.
• It distributes brochures and directories to assist in locating and accessing needed services.
