Day of Caring 2008 |
|
On Thursday, September 11, about 1,200 to 1,500 volunteers from about 45 businesses and other organizations worked on Day of Caring projects at local not-profit agencies, including both members and non-members of United Way. On this page are some photos of the activities of that day. Day of Caring is a yearly, community-wide volunteer
event coordinated by
United Way
of
Broome
County
. It was first held as a single day on September 11, 2002. It was
planned to commemorate the volunteers and heroes who responded to the
horrific events of September 11, 2001, and to remember the victims who
lost their lives. More than 1,000 volunteers have participated in each
of the years that it has been held. |
