Donor Incentive Prizes

Donors to United Way Campaign won six prizes

Six donor incentive prizes were awarded to contributors to the 2008 Campaign, United Way of Broome County's annual fund drive. They included a 2008 automobile, a room full of furniture, $2,500 in gasoline, and three prizes of $1,000 in groceries.

The prizes were...

Wegmans Food Market in Johnson City again  gave away three $1,000 gift cards, one each to three people who pledged to donate $1 per week or more to the 2008 United Way Campaign. The winners wee Michael Welch, an employee of Endicott Interconnect Technologies; Pam Bertram, and employee of Doron Precision; and Bill Holt, and employee of Willow Run Foods. This is the sixth year in a row that Wegmans has donated a prize to the Campaign. The gift cards can be used for groceries or any other store merchandise.

This year $2,500 in Valero gasoline--enough to drive at least 12,500 miles--was donated by Manley's Mighty Mart to a person who agreed to contribute $2 or more a week to the 2008 United Way Campaign. The winner was Robert C. Bakalar an employee of Cadence Design. Manley's Might Mart also donated gasoline cards as an incentive in the 2007 Campaign.

As another incentive to encourage donations, Olum’s Furniture Company donated a room full of furniture (but not electronics or appliances) worth $3,000 to a person who pledges to donate $2.50 or more a week to the 2008 United Way Campaign. The winner was Dan Richards, an employee of Rockwell Collins.

Those who agree to donate $3 per week or more to the 2008 Campaign were eligible to enter a drawing for a 2008 Chevrolet Aveo five-door hatchback, which was donated by Gault Chevrolet of  Endicott. It is rated at 37 miles per gallon on the highway. Mark Peterson of Binghamton Simulator won this prize.

Drawings for all six donor incentives were held at United Way’s Thank You/Awards reception held in December. A donor who met the eligibility requirements for the drawing at a particular pledge amount could also enter the drawings for the lower pledge amounts. A separate entry card was completed for each type of prize. A specific amount of approved community service could be substituted for the financial donation to United Way to enter the drawing for each of the prizes. Please contact United Way at (607) 729-2592 for specific details. The entry cards were available from the United Way representative at each organization conducting an in-house United Way campaign, or by contacting United Way. No donor funds were used for any of these prizes.

Thanks to all the generous donors who supported the United Way Campaign and the people in our community!
